Biography

Jakara Rogers brings a decade of experience with youth engagement and advocacy to her role as Project Coordinator at ETR. As a lead curriculum developer and training facilitator for the Office of the Foster Care Ombudsman, she traveled throughout the state of California to provide trainings on the rights of foster youth to various providers, caregivers, and youth. She was instrumental in updating the Foster Youth Bill of Rights and created many of the materials that are now present in the Foster Youth Rights Handbook for the California Department of Social Services. She is also a California Youth Connection alum and has worked with their Youth Training Project as a curriculum developer and facilitator. 

Jakara studied History and Psychology and earned degrees in Social Sciences and Social and Behavioral Sciences. She went on to become a mental health professional and focused on youth behavioral health during her time working at The Source Sacramento and the Sacramento City Unified School District.
