BART: Becoming a Responsible Teen
An HIV Risk-Reduction Program for Adolescents

Grades 9-12

This evidence-based program gives teens skills to delay sexual involvement and reduce their exposure to HIV/AIDS. Named a Best-Evidence Intervention by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), BART features activities that focus on creative problem solving and extending learning beyond the classroom.

The revised third edition provides latest HIV terminology and statistics, including information on the HIV rapid test; new videos that make content more relevant to today's youth; recommended teaching time for each activity; new content on the risk of overlapping partners; and a new activity that features stories of young people who need to make decisions about safer sex.

Acclaimed expert Doug Kirby, PhD, discusses evidence-based programs.
